Dark mode is a feature that many users look for on websites. Some people find it easier to read than with traditional black text on white background themes. Dark mode also helps to reduce the brightness of the screen, reducing eye strain in dark environments and potentially saving power if you’re using an OLED monitor.
What is TweetDeck?
TweetDeck is an official web-based Twitter platform that allows you to have multiple columns for different feeds. You can configure individual columns for your main Twitter feed, private messages, notifications, following a hashtag, and more. You can even configure TweetDeck to be signed into multiple Twitter accounts at once, making it an easy way to manage multiple accounts.
How to enable dark mode
To enable dark mode in TweetDeck you need to open the settings by clicking the cogwheel icon in the bottom left, then click “Settings” from the popup box.

In the settings menu, you can choose to enable or disable dark mode by clicking the “Dark” and “Light” radio buttons underneath “Theme”. Your setting will immediately apply, you don’t need to reload the page or click “Done”.

Dark mode on Twitter
The dark mode setting for TweetDeck is independent of the dark mode setting for the main Twitter website. You can enable dark mode on Twitter by clicking the triple-dot icon on the left, then clicking “Display”.

Once in Twitter’s display settings, you can choose between the “Default” light mode and “Dim” mode which uses dark blues as background colours. You can also choose the “Lights out” mode which uses a proper black background. Unfortunately, this extra choice isn’t yet available for TweetDeck.
