Great post. Pineda can keep Journey rockin the concerts. But as I listened to the song, as good as Pineda is, he is not Steve Perry. Both have great styles, but my vote is still classic Perry.

Though Pineda will never come close to Perry’s accomplishments with Journey, I do agree with you after hearing him perform live. Pineda’s voice is incredible. The quality of his modal voice in the upper register is better than Perry. Neal hit the lottery.

Steve Perry was great and will always be but the torch is pass to a new bearer. Steve, Arnel was a true beliver in you and that’s the reason why he sang your songs. It’s a compliment.
Again music has no color barrier. accent? how about carribean, british, latin singers? I don’t hear you complain about. Mixed of culture and singers is healthy to the world as a whole. Enjoy the music!
‘Have been and will always be a Journey fan. Arnel is amazing. His wonderful, touching voice should not be compared. It’s definitely not a copy. It’s one of a kind! He’s got a talent of his own. Let’s be glad that they are back. With this new talent/addition to their group, their music/sound is stronger and alive than ever.

I have to admit that I was not a Journey follower before, even if I grew up on rock (mostly soft rock) music. Of course, I know “Open Arms”, like everybody else. However, when I heard Arnel sing on the Ellen Degeneres show, wow I was dumbstrucked! His voice is really out of this world. I bought their newest album, ripped it to my mp3 player and have been listening to their songs day in and day out. (Include nights also). The best tracks on Revelation are “Like a Sunshower” and “Turn Down the World Tonight.” Hauntingly beautiful!
That dude Arrnel is awesome. We watched Journey last week and we all went like “holy shit”. At first i thought he was just some overrated singer discovered by Neal but after seeing him performed i became a believer. The guy can sing i mean with so much emotions! His voice is full and powerful which makes him so different than Soto or Augeri who can barely hit their highs. The best Journey concert i’ve seen in years for sure.
Arnel Pineda is still the best for me I love the song After All These Years and Turn Down the World Tonight. I hope that he will remain humble inspite of his success!!!

ARNEL is really one amazing singer. He could be in “Guinness World Records” because he is voice chameleon. When he was still in a cover band, he always did an outstanding rendition of hit songs by well-known singers.
Now that he is with JOURNEY, the legendary rock band, his singing ability shines even more. Their new album, REVELATION is an outstanding one, a collector’s item for me. The band now is awesome to watch–they are like a big, happy family. I saw them on their 2008 REVELATION TOUR & it was truly an enjoyable high-quality rock concert for all ages.

Absolutely. Perry is the voice, but he simply could not sing those songs anymore. Pineda is a worthy successor.
