I have a ham radio license and this past weekend was Field Day across the US where we all get on the air in a contest format (how many contacts can you make) but it's more about emergency preparedness and not running off commercial power. As we were breaking down the site yesterday after 2pm, we had 2 tremendous storm cells come through about 1 or so hours apart. After the 1st one we were listening to NOAA radio and they were saying everything was coming up from the south which would put it right over you. They talked about high winds and small hail (we didn't see any hail) but they didn't mention tornados. Glad everyone is ok.

My parents live in FL and my in-laws in NC. They both deal with hurricanes each year. It's scary stuff that mother nature.

Be careful with that chain saw ;-)
