I have to say that a lot of vendors let sites keep the product which is o.k. The same is true of site sponcors. The problem is when that is not disclosed or if the person doing the review has a vested intrerest in the company’s product that they are reviewing.
I have no problem with a person keeping the product as long as that is stated up front. A lot of people trust our opinions and count on us to give them an honest opinion. I know that I would be upset if I found out that they were using their position for personal gain.
I would think twice about buying a product if I knew this.
Wow, that really rubs me the wrong way. I think that the folks who do the reviews need to be up front about things like this. Thanks to Jerry for pointing that out!
Jack never worked for SCOTTEVEST. He is on our board of advisors, but that is not a paid position, nor does it require any work whatsoever. It is clear for all to see on our website, and it has never affected Jack’s reviews. Dave knew about this when Jack reviewed our products. I just thought I should set the record straight.

Scott I was not involved in your agreement with Jack. I was not aware you were paying for him to fly out to Las Vegas to work trade shows. That to me is misleading to an audience and quite honestly he shouldn’t be reviewing your products..
I will never review a product that I am on the books.

I flew Jack to LV well after he did all the reviews, with the exception of one. Jack did that as a favor to me, and should not be criticized for doing it. How is that misleading? David, it seems to me that you have a problem with Jack, and you should keep your personal feelings apart from your website. You knew full well that Jack was on our board of advisors when he was reviewing our products. There should have been no surprises there. If you thought that fact should have been revealed in his reviews, you could have done that. David, I find all this quite surprising since the reason you told me Jack could not review anything more was because i refused to pay you for advertising, which to me seems like a huge conflict of interest.
Since ScottEvest sells clothing and the person who is reviewing the products are actually using them are they required to return them? I would hope not. I would not want to purchase clothing that was warn.
If he gets to keep the product that is some form of payment, correct? I would also consider if the company is paying the person to work at trade shows that this is a form of compensation. I would think that this is a conflict of interest.

Scott to me what Jack was doing for you was a big advertisement and not a unbiased review. Therefore you asked me why Jack couldnt review your products and I told you that Mobility Today is not using reviews for your own benefit. Its wrong and misleading!
Also Scott from the comments it sounds as if others aren’t too happy with this either so I don’t think this has to do with a personal issue. Just an issue with someone who continually is misleading his audience with his affiliations and personal gain.

Scott rude and obnoxious statements about me will never get posted. So as you can see if you comment on something that isn’t outright being rude will be released from the queue.
My comment was not rude but true. So i suppose it is fine for you to slander others but not allow them an opportunity to reply. If something was rude or untrue you could edit that portion but in my case it was mostly a cut/paste of your email to me insisting that i advertise to continue to get reviews.
